BonZai 3D
A few days ago I stumbled on some news about a new 3D-tool. Appearently, creators of Form•Z – AutoDesSys – had released a first version of a lightweight modeller called BonZai 3D. The word was out that this software should compete in the same arena that Google’s SketchUp does with push/pull-modelling. I’m no die-hard 3D expert at all myself, and I have always been very frustrated whenever I’ve used software like Cinema 4D and tried to create bevelled edges, booleans etc. It simply just doesn’t work to model stuff the way I want to do it. If you for example want to create a dice with nice and smooth rounded edges around the dice as well as around the edges of the small holes on each side, you have to use quite extensive cutting & carving with the knife tool. Sure, you can use a boolean to create the dips on the dice’s sides, but you won’t be able to round the edges without having lots of artefacts of ugly edges. Read more.. »
