framesqueYesterday evening I started to model a vehicle to learn another 3D-software – Modo 401. It’s far to early to tell wheter I’ll succeed in actually learning enough, but if inspiration and time merge in a fashionable way it might all be good. What kind of vehicle it is? You’ll see. Definitely maybe.

BonZai 3D

BonZai 3D

A few days ago I stumbled on some news about a new 3D-tool. Appearently, creators of Form•Z – AutoDesSys – had released a first version of a lightweight modeller called BonZai 3D. The word was out that this software should compete in the same arena that Google’s SketchUp does with push/pull-modelling. I’m no die-hard 3D expert at all myself, and I have always been very frustrated whenever I’ve used software like Cinema 4D and tried to create bevelled edges, booleans etc. It simply just doesn’t work to model stuff the way I want to do it. If you for example want to create a dice with nice and smooth rounded edges around the dice as well as around the edges of the small holes on each side, you have to use quite extensive cutting & carving with the knife tool. Sure, you can use a boolean to create the dips on the dice’s sides, but you won’t be able to round the edges without having lots of artefacts of ugly edges. Read more.. »

newintroToday we (MRM Starsky)  launched an updated website for the Vattenfall site on how to curb climate change. The website itself had a few minor tweaks but the front page got a spanking new intro. The idea of the 10 seconds long movie on the start page is to show that “opinion influencers have the focus on themselves, now that so many people have signed the climate manifesto”.

3D-assembly and render made by Important Looking Pirates and sound design by Redpipe. The soundtrack itself might not be worth mentioning at first look/hearing, but it actually consist of more than 60 tracks of layered audio. Oh, and I’m the one behind the sounds of all signatures being written =)

Take a look at the result here.

Bed tables

bedtable2_small

We’ve been looking for some good looking bed tables and finally saw a design we liked. However, the price for two tables in combination with the end finish (judging from the images of the tables) were something that made me firing up Google Sketchup and start to construct something on my own.  I mean, why not make our own tables with the exact measurements we wanted?. So, after speaking with my father, he promised to carpent two tables as long as he had a good drawing. I think the end result was just as good as we hoped. Here’s the Sketchup document if you feel like having a go with the saw and drilling machine yourself.

Time for change! Welcome to a redesigned and restructured website. From now on, this place will rely on Wordpress which – hopefully – will result in more updated content.
